Attorney Student Loan Repayment Program (ASLRP)

Who It’s For: U.S. Department of Justice employees working in an attorney position. Anyone serving in such a position may apply for consideration.

How to Apply: You can check the ASLRP page for instructions on which forms to fill out and how to submit them. Applying for this program will trigger a three-year obligation of service to the Department of Justice.

What Loans Qualify: Stafford loans, Graduate Plus loans, consolidation loans, supplemental loans, Perkins loans, Nursing Student Loan Program loans, Health Profession Student Loans, and Health Education Assistance Student Loans.

How Much?: Up to $6,000 per year, up to a total of $60,000 over the life of the loan.

Anything Else I Should Know?:  If you’re working full time for the Department of Education, there’s a good chance you already qualify for Public Service Loan Forgiveness as well. Make sure you review both options carefully and determine which option(s) best suit your specific situation.
