Arkansas State Teacher Education Program (STEP)

Who It’s For: Arkansas residents with loans from a teacher education program who work as a teacher in to help fill a critical teaching shortage, either in terms of location (PDF) or subject matter (PDF).

How to Apply: You will need to create an account on to the Arkansas Department of Higher Education website to apply for this program.

What Loans Qualify: Most federal student loans should be able to qualify for this option.

How Much?: Up to $6,000.

Anything Else I Should Know?:  STEP program information is available on the Arkansas Division of Higher Education website. Recipients can re-apply each year, for up to a total of three years. STEP recipients must have graduated from a teacher education program after April 2004.
