Who It’s For: Health professionals licensed in Illinois as a primary care physicians (residency trained or board eligible osteopathic or allopathic physicians trained in family practice, general internal medicine, general pediatrics, internal medicine pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology; nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurse midwives; dentists or psychiatrists), or expect to be licensed in Illinois and who are willing to practice at public or nonprofit, private entities providing primary healthcare services in a federally designated HPSA in Illinois.
How to Apply: You can apply online. The next application period begins September 1, 2023.
What Loans Qualify: Any loans (including federal, state, and private) that were used to pay for the relevant healthcare degree.
How Much?: $25,000 per year, up to $50,000 total.
Anything Else I Should Know?: You can find more details about this loan repayment option here. Applicants must enter into a minimum two year contract. A third year and a fourth year can be added individually upon completion of the initial two-year obligation.
