Kansas Bridging Plan

Who It’s For: Primary care and psychiatry resident physicians who agree to work in specific approved residency programs in a rural community in Kansas for at least 36 months.

How to Apply: An online application should be available during the application period, between September 1 and December 31.

What Loans Qualify: Technically, this does not directly pay off your loans. Instead, if you are approved for this program, you will receive funds in the form of new loans, which will then be gradually forgiven over the course of your 36 month obligation period. You are encouraged to use these funds to pay off your other loans.

How Much?: At least $26,000, though it may be possible to qualify for more.

Anything Else I Should Know?: Health care organizations in 100 out of 105 counties in Kansas are eligible to accept KBP recipients (excludes Douglas, Johnson, Sedgwick, Shawnee, and Wyandotte).
