West Virginia Medical Student Loan Program

Who It’s For: Medical students with financial need who agree to practice in an underserved area of West Virginia. They may practice in the fields of family medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, general surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics or psychiatry.

What Loans Qualify: No specific loan types are listed in the publicly available information for this program. Most similar programs allow you to put the payment toward any loans (including federal, state, and private) that were used to pay for the relevant law degree and were taken out from a qualified lending institution.

How Much?: Up to $10,000 per year, up to a potential total of $40,000 over four years.

Anything Else I Should Know?: The forgiveness is granted after each year of service, while repayment is postponed.
