How to apply for PSLF and Temporary Expanded Public Service Loan Forgiveness (TEPSLF)

AKA: The PSLF “fix”

How to Apply

    • Make sure you have submitted all ten years of ECF forms.
    • When first ECF is submitted and approved, your loans will transfer to FedLoan Servicing.
    • At that point, they will count your eligible payments.
    • Note that it’s possible there may be a delay in correctly counting eligible payments made prior to the transfer to MOHELA. This is a known issue they are working to remedy. If you feel your payment count is incorrect you can request a recount, however such counts can take between six months and one year unless you are actually applying for forgiveness.

After payment 120, submit the PSLF forgiveness form.

Your loans will be placed in forbearance during application review

Any overpayments you may have made will be refunded once your forgiveness has been approved.
